Ok, so here are a couple ideas for you:

Consider, instead of purchasing a gift – bake one. Personally decorated cookies and even a mix tray of various kinds of deserts are a wonderful gift. You can make the recipes well in advance and keep them in the freezer until the very last minute – so that the recipient is able to pop them in their freezer right away if they want.

Old plastic food containers with slightly ill-fitting lids, scarred interiors or warped lids… these work as perfect containers for protecting your xmas ornaments, ribbons and also to hold things like gift tags or bows. If the lid is not secure enough for your liking, secure it with a rubber bands.
