the art of business

-- Quote of the Day -- “… When you are passionate and really love what you do you can really transform your life and radiate this energy to others. …Now, is a great time to try to go after your dreams. …We do a lot of give-aways and really neat things for a variety of groups, but one of the tricks to our success (is doing things like) renting a little sedan to take a customer to an event that was a chance of a lifetime for her. …Think of how that made me feel – there is just no better feeling. …you don’t think that the word trickles down to your employees when you do something like this? And then they start to do this with their clients. …Those little things make the biggest difference in the world in growing your business from nothing to amazing. …I joined Entrepreneur’s Organization; we would literally get around a table and each month a person would be in charge of talking about their company and we would be able to make suggestions and learn from them. That was very helpful in bein

Join a job club and volunteer – business people volunteer in these organizations and you might work beside someone who works for a company that is hiring, you just never know. Music & Business, Organics & Recycling

-- Quote of the Day -- “ Statistics reveal that 85% of the people out there who have never played an instrument would have loved the opportunity to play one …There is a great resource out there called Support Music (www.supportmusic.com) – teaches people how to go about promoting music in the community. …National Association of Music Merchants (www.namm.org) also has a foundation that supports musicians and teachers… And Little Kids Rock (www.littlekidsrock.org) is another foundation that provides resources, instruments and support to teachers. …I would say that there are a number of books that show that playing music affects a child’s mind as far as learning ability. …(Music therapy is being) used for Autism, Down Syndrome and also Alzheimer’s. …I remember playing in a band at New Year’s Eve, and we finished a song and a friend of the family walks up and says ‘I can’t believe this, This kid doesn’t say anything for 15 years and now he’s singing a song up on stage!’ …Music helped me i

The Arts

-- Quote of the Day -- " Above all, we are coming to understand that the arts incarnate the creativity of a free people. Slow Down & See Waste as a Resource

-- Quote of the Day -- “…Advertising is very invasive in our lives right now it is getting harder to discern between news and advertising – it takes time to sort out what is new information and when we are being sold. And this creates a sense of discontentment with our lives… and if we are not aware of the influence of this we can be caught up in it. Such as being identified by brand… and we are working too hard to keep up with the things that identify us in this world. …The stress that this creates is overwhelming - to feel like you are not enough. …I have clients that I’ve asked to go on a magazine fast – when they stop looking at the things that are larger than life, better than anything could be because it is produced, then they begin to feel OK about where they are and their identity becomes about WHO they are. …When we get a sense of things are not OK is to …go and buy stuff because we are not connected to our own psychological strength, so that we can be more discerning about wh

Networking & E-books

-- Quote of the Day -- “…‘Networking’ is defined as building a mutual beneficial relationship. I try to teach people that just because the tools have changed, the way human beings are wired in our heads is the same. …In order for this to work, it can’t just be about me. …If I make it all about myself, people will see through that and will not make time for it. But if I take pride in helping others, people are going to want to be a part of that. A ‘Brand’ is something you are known for – it is a promise… it is what you are known for. A brand is a tangible - it can be intentional or intentional, and a brand can be negative.” Nov 10, ’09 – Thom Singer Today's quote originates from an interview with Thom Singer that aired on the 10th of November, 2009 on the Conscious Discussions talk radio show. They chase idle dreams, material possessions, addictions, religions, even other people, hoping to fill the emptiness that plagues them. The irony is the only place they ...ever needed to search was within. " ~ Ramona L. Thank you all for the incredible out-pouring of condolences and well-wishes during this time of family tragedy. We have been so moved by your kind and thoughtful letters, emails and messages. The family is doing better, handling this difficult issue very well despite the raw emotions - and we, Dave and I, hope to be back in the office for you all by Jan 11th. In the meantime I'm trying to keep up with the emails as I have time, please allow me time to get to your messages while I play catch-up in the office thru to the middle of January. Well, I'm 40 now... the big FOUR-O - which has me feeling a little differently, that is for sure. all the birthdays ending in O tend to have a big impact on me... the others not so much. :) Well, I've got to rush off again - appointments and duties call - I will, however, be back in the office almost daily now and will be back to normal by Jan 15th. In sincere appreciation, Lillian Find Dave & Lillian Brummet, excerpts from their book
