Bucket Filling

-- Quote of the Day -- “ I used to believe I was going in the wrong direction sometimes… it is important to accept my life experiences and learn from them… accept your personal accountability for what happens and move on. …Instead of worrying about the fairness of it all we must learn to be a river – go with the flow. …We all have an invisible bucket – and that is a great way to picture our feelings. When our bucket is full we are having positive feelings joyful, happy, …grateful. When our buckets are empty we might be sad or angry or jealous or any of these negative feelings. We can choose to be a bucket filler or a bucket dipper. A bucket filler helps make other people feel good by the things we do and say; a bucket dipper does just the opposite. The best way to keep our bucket full, is to fill other people’s buckets. …we are in charge of our buckets, all the time .” Stacey Lundgren ~ June 24, 2010 Today's quote came from an interview with Stacey on the Conscious Discussions

E-waste & Website News

-- Chatter -- Well, it is that time again - the doors to the office will be closed today, and will remain closed until Sunday. As many of you are already aware, Dave and I take 3-4 days off from the office every month - we do this for our own sanity. You see, a home office never goes away - it is there 24/7 and emails roll in every minute of the day. So for our own sanity and peace of mind, we have made a pact to each other to take this time away every month. I'll be sharing a lot of information today, in hopes that it will be enough content to satisfy our readers while we take this time away from the office :)   You'll find our site changes - www.brummet.ca - are nearly completed; we'll be able to do the final touch ups, affiliate info and a few new pages, and more in a few days... having it completely revamped and finished by Sept 1st, as promised. In the meantime, do scroll through the site to see what we've done with it so far. Check out Dave's Portfolio p

Saving Race Horses

It's hard, being that he has an injured right arm at the moment and is doing a lot of left hand stuff! :) However, I wanted to warn you so that in the meantime, as you visit the site over the next few days, you might see some pages aren't yet working or you might notice changes happening every day... Again, we plan on having the site changes completed by Sept 1st - with LOTS of new stuff, so do visit it often :) - www.brummet.ca -- Conscious Discussions Radio -- Today, live at 10 AM - I'll be interviewing Lynn Reardon, who is the founder of LOPE Org . Sunday Do's Taking Up the Day

-- Chatter --  OK - I'm a little late in coming over to the blog today... I've been out harvesting blackberries, cabbage, potatoes, eggplant, artichoke and a few tomatoes as well... weeding in between all that. Once all the food was stored in the fridge and the kitchen relatively tidy, I headed right over here to spend some time with you on the blog. WHEW~! LOL Later on I'll continue with the laundry, kitchen scouring and dog duties before heading back in the office to tackle the many emails sitting there for me to deal with :) ...and hopefully, I'll actually get some time to write this week. :) Speaking of which... I'd like to invite you all to check out this great archived interview that I was listening to again recently, which the quote below was taken from: -- Quote of the Day -- “ A query is essentially is a sales letter… in this case you are selling your creative work to a publisher, it is the first step to getting a contract. …Remember most

Writing & a Sustainable Global Society

-- Quote of the Day --  " Take out another notebook, pick up another pen,         and just write, just write, just write. In the middle of the world, make one positive step. In the centre of chaos, make one definitive act.         Just write. Say yes, stay alive, be awake.  Just write... Fuel News & Therapy

-- Quote of the Day -- “If you go in as a therapist without knowing a thing about {their situation}, but go in as an expert - what you are doing is converting them to your way of thinking, making them little “you’s” and the horror of that is they have to stay with you for the rest of their lives. …The real goal of therapy is to make yourself useless to the person, where they will no longer need you – because you are not {a therapist} for yourself. …Abuse is when someone takes away the power of another, often without that person being aware their power is taken away… or they give it away willingly... One person stealing power from another… There is a deception going on, the person is convincing the victim that their actions are for their own good. …they not only hide it, but when it comes to the kids they make excuses for it. …It often starts with a trained dependence on another. There are all kinds of abuse, but emotional abuse is the most prevailing.” ~ Milton Trachentenburg

But if you are trying to convince people about something …it doesn’t matter how good of an entertainer you are, you are not going to get your point across. …Stage presence, vocal variety, gestures, movements, and all that are there to emphasize the ke

World of Writing - Interviews

-- Quote of the Day -- “ I got some pretty harsh lessons from the kids… one inner city kids told a story about his father killing his dog. I was shocked, but thought perhaps he was vying for attention – but it turns out he wasn’t and I realized that there was violence in the home and I was concerned for him. And I asked him how he felt about that. …So I said, ‘Kids – look… You are living in a tough world. Very difficult things happen, but they are out of your control because you are kids. Here’s what you can do – you can say to a parent: ‘I feel bad when you do such-and-such to my dog or cat’. And you can say it maybe twice because the parents are in charge. But that can change, you can decide to be kind to animals when you grow up. …Kids can write stories about what is happening, how they feel when they are with animals. …{Pawprints Literacy Org} programs develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills – including drama – all of which are a part of li
