-- Quote of the Day --

-->
“…There are all sorts of breathing exercises - each technique has its unique ability to change something. Breath Awareness works on a subconscious level on your conditioned habits. It will calm anxiety and relieve depression – you are actually changing your mind in a positive way. Breath Awareness trains you to observe, instead of trying to change it. The more you can calmly and objectively observe your physical body – the less you react and the more calm you become. It actually transforms very deep levels of your mind.”

-- Positive News --

I read recently in our local paper that a high school in our city (Creston, BC - Canada) partnered with over a hundred students to celebrate the first ever Community Involvement Day - which they hope to make an annual event. The students descended on the city volunteering on a wide array of activities from helping out at the animal rescue center (http://paws-crestonbc.org), the library, painting over graffiti, trail clean up, and much more.

A few days later I read of other schools in the area participating in the Harvest Share Program, where the youth would go to orchards and farms, and neighborhoods to pick fruits and vegetables that would otherwise be composted or left where they are. These foods will be processed and distributed to various groups serving the hungry and also a few fundraiser events where volunteers will bake and cook up a storm of foods for sale.

I was so amazed by this, so proud of our community, so grateful for the school initiatives - that I just had to share it with you today. Perhaps this will inspire other educators and group leaders to get their people involved in this way as well.
