Australia's Reusue and Repair Center

-- Quote of the Day --

“…compassion, in which all ethics must take root, can only attain its full breadth and depth if it embraces all living creatures and does not limit itself to mankind."

 ~ Albert Schweitzer

Australia has launched Bower Reuse and Repair center – a repair café, where people are connected with skilled volunteers who offer weekly, monthly or seasonal workshops on how to repair a wide array of items, or turn old items into something new.

They even have sewing workshops! The goal is to develop a trend in society – resisting the tendency to throw things away, to create a community that is deeply connected, to educate and to reduce pressure on the landfill.

The result has been overwhelming with ideas flying in, creation of a tool lending library and increased public library loans on how-to books. There may even be an on-sight store where the organization can sell repaired or re-purposed items to raise funds for their projects.
